PSHE/RSE parent/carer consultation 2026-27
As part of your child's education at Sedgehill Academy, we promote personal wellbeing and development through a comprehensive Personal, Social, Health and Economic (PSHE) education programme which we deliver through PSHE lessons, tutor times drop down days and assemblies. PSHE education gives the young people in our community the knowledge, understanding, attitudes and practical skills to live safe, healthy and productive lives.
It is a statutory requirement that all schools in England and Wales teach relationships, sex (RSE) and health education as a fundamental part of the curriculum. You may also be aware that there will be some changes to the statutory guidance which will take effect from September 2026. As part of the implementation of this updated curriculum, schools must consult with children, parents, staff and governors to ensure there is a consensus on our approaches to policy and curriculum content.
Sedgehill Academy will be starting this consultation process on Thursday 14th May and the consultation will close on Friday 12th June 2026. We will also be holding an online parent forum on Wednesday 10th June 2026 from 5-5.30pm which will outline the key topics within our PSHE/RSE curriculum and the key changes for September 2026.
As part of the consultation, parents, staff and governors will be asked to read through the following two documents and make comments on them.
