This year’s GCSE, A Level and BTEC grades clearly illustrate the trajectory of improvement that has been underway over the past few years:

  • Over 2/3 of Year 11 students achieved a grade 4 or above in both GCSE English and maths, with 55% achieving grade 5 or above in both
  • 1/5 of students achieved a grade 7 or above in both GCSE English and maths
  • Over 1/3 of A Levels resulted in A* or A grades
  • 48% of Year 13 students achieved all A* to B grades
  • Sixth Formers at Sedgehill Academy secured offers from a range of Russell Group universities, including Queen Mary’s University of London, Birmingham and Nottingham

Outstanding Performers at Key Stage 5 - 2023

  • Khamarni: Achieved an A* in English Literature and an A in Philosophy & Ethics; will attend the University of York to study English and History.
  • Meltem: Secured two As in English and History and a B in Maths; will be studying Economics and Politics at the University of York.
  • Orlandas: Earned an A in Maths, a C in Engineering, and a double Distinction in Business; will attend the University of York to study Economics.
  • Aisha: Achieved a Merit in IT, a Distinction in Media, and Distinction*-Distinction-Distinction in Photography; will study photography at the University for the Creative Arts.
  • Manuel: Secured a Distinction in IT, a Merit in Media, and a B in Business; will attend the University of Westminster to study Software Engineering.
  • AJ: Earned a Distinction in Media, a Merit in Music, and a triple Distinction in Photography; will study Filmmaking at Kingston University.
  • Dylan: Achieved two Bs in Geography and Philosophy & Ethics, and a Merit in Media; will attend the University of West London to study Air Transport Management.
  • Tracey: Secured a Merit in Music, a B in Sociology, and a C in Philosophy & Ethics; will study Sociology at the University of Sussex.
  • Diya: Achieved two Distinctions in IT and Media, and a Distinction*-Distinction-Distinction in Photography; will attend Goldsmiths to study Media and Communications.

Top-Performing GCSE Students - 2023

  • Casey: Achieved grade 9s in five subjects and grade 8s in three, with an additional grade 5.
  • Oliwier: Earned four grade 9s, four grade 8s, two grade 6s, and one grade 5.
  • Frankie: Secured one grade 9, three grade 8s, and four grade 6s.
  • Emmilia: Earned one grade 8, five grade 7s, one grade 6, and one grade 5.

    “This year’s GCSE grades continue our trajectory of improvement that has been underway over the past few years. Whilst the awards themselves are not directly comparable with normal years, they do reflect the hard work, ambition and excellent learning that students have displayed during their GCSE studies. “Every student celebrating today can be proud of their achievements and we look forward to welcoming many of them back to our thriving Sixth Form in September where they can aspire to similar success of our A Level students this week."
