Applying to Sedgehill Academy Sixth Form

Our aspiration for every student when they join us in year 7 is that they stay with us through to year 13, but we also welcome students from all over Lewisham and the surrounding boroughs to our Sixth Form.


Dear Students
 
Following the collection of your GCSE results on Thursday, 22nd August 2024you are invited to complete your course enrolment with a member of the Sixth Form team at Sedgehill Academy.

 
Internal candidates - 9:00am – 11:00am
External candidates – 12:pm-2:00 pm - students will be seen in order of arrival.

 
Note: Enrolment for Basketball Academy players will be from 11:00 am – 2:00 pm

 
To complete your enrolment in year 12 courses, external candidates must bring the following documents:

  • Your GCSE results
  • Proof of Identity - either your birth certificate or passport
  • If you are SEN or have Access Arrangements, please bring your file from your current school

External Student Interviews

Interviews for students who would like to join us this September but are not currently Sedgehill students are being held every afternoon from Monday 20th - Friday 24th March between 4-6pm.

Please come along on any of these dates for your interview, you do not need to book a time but interviews will take place on a first come, first served basis so you may have to wait a short time when we are busy.

Sixth Form Entry Requirements

Entry to our Sixth Form is subject to having achieved the minimum entry requirements and an academic reference - this is also applicable to Basketball Academy students.

Retakes of GCSE English and Maths are only available if students are one grade below the entry criteria for their chosen course.

A Level Pathways

  • at least five GCSEs at level 5 and above, including English and Maths
  • level 6 in the subjects you want to study
  • Some subjects may require a level 7 in certain subjects (see individual subject pages for details).

BTEC Pathways

  • at least five GCSEs at level 4 and above, including English and Maths

What happens next?

  • Please complete our online application in full before 11/01/23
  • External students need to request an academic reference to be sent to sixthform@sedgehillacademy.org.uk as soon as possible.
  • Students applying for the Basketball Academy will be invited to the try outs separately.
  • Conditional offers will be sent out in after the Easter break

What is an Academic Reference?

This is a reference provided by an academic member of staff in your current school who can comment in detail on things like: the quality of academic work you have produced, including your predicted grades and your attitude to learning
