We are thrilled to announce that last night, two bands from Sedgehill Academy participated in the prestigious Battle of the Bands competition organised by Trinity Laban Conservatoire. The event, held at the renowned Blackheath Halls, a state-of-the-art professional music venue, saw our students compete against other talented bands from schools across Lewisham and Greenwich.
Each band performed two songs: one original and one cover. Both bands received outstanding feedback from a panel of music industry professionals, highlighting their exceptional performances and high standards.
We are proud to share that our Y10 band, Spitflame, emerged as the winners of the Battle of the Bands! Their finale was described by the judges as “worthy of Glastonbury’s Main Stage.” This incredible achievement means Spitflame will enjoy a workshop at Trinity Laban led by a music industry professional, along with the opportunity to record some of their songs in Trinity Laban’s professional studio.
Our students not only impressed the judges but also received numerous compliments from teachers and students from other schools. Here are the talented participants:
Y9 Band (Mellow): • Toby • Ed • William H • Momusu • Archie
Y10 Band (Spitflame) – WINNERS: • Cody • Gurpal • Nithan
We are immensely proud of all our students for their hard work, dedication, and outstanding performances. They have truly showcased the musical talent and spirit of Sedgehill Academy. Congratulations to both bands for their remarkable achievements, and a special shout-out to Spitflame for bringing home the victory! We look forward to supporting their musical journey and witnessing their future successes.
