Y6-7 Transition 2021

Welcome to Sedgehill Academy

On behalf of all of the staff and students at Sedgehill, we would like to extend a very warm welcome to all of our new year 7 students joining us in September 2021, and to all new parents and carers too. Our academy has been educating children from the local community for over 50 years and we are really looking forward to meeting you all.

The transition from primary to secondary school can be a daunting prospect for young people, many young people have spent more time out of school than in school during the past 12 months, so we have lots of exciting activities planned for the spring and summer to help our new students to get to know their new school and each other.

Key Forthcoming Dates for new students joining in September 2021

Tuesday 6th July – Lewisham Transition Day

A borough wide day for all year 6 students to find out more about their new school. Please note that due to the delay to lifting covid-related restrictions, this will now be an online event.

Tuesday 13th July – 4-6pm – New Families Transition Meeting

An important meeting for parents, carers and new students to outline what to expect in September.

Further details will follow via email

We have an open door policy because we are very proud of our academy. If you would like to come and visit us to have a look around and meet some of the staff and students, please email info@sedgehillacademy.org.uk to to book a time.

Improving the academic performance and progress of all students has and will continue to be our number one priority but Sedgehill also prides itself in providing exciting opportunities for our learners outside of the classroom.

At Sedgehill Academy we aim to bring out the best in every student. We offer an outstanding education and broad curriculum in a warm and supportive environment, uniting high academic achievement with strong development of character. Students can also look forward to being able to use our fantastic state-of-the-art facilities, including 2 drama studios; a gym; photography rooms; a music studio; tennis courts; football pitches, and plenty of outdoor space. Every year 7 student will also be able to take part in one of our many different clubs and learn to play a musical instrument courtesy of the prestigious Andrew Lloyd Webber Music In Secondary Schools Trust (http://www.misst.org.uk/)
