Our mission for every student who studies at Sedgehill Sixth Form is to leave as a strong, independent learner who is confident and well prepared to face the demands of the competitive world ahead of them.

We want every student to aspire to achieve beyond expectations and leave with the necessary skills to succeed in the next stage of their career, be that university, an apprenticeship or employment. Creating an environment where this can be achieved is our primary goal.

Sixth Form Dress Code

As such, our dress code reflects the expectations of a formal working environment, where students take a responsible and mature attitude toward achieving their goals. Our Sixth Formers are also role models to the lower school and standards of dress are an important part of the demonstrating this.

No facial piercings are allowed – students will be asked to remove or cover them.
No excessive amounts of jewellery.
Hair colour and style must be appropriate for school.
Tattoos should not be visible.

Sixth Form Student Agreement

The Sixth Form Student Agreement – must be signed by all students and parents in the first week.

To attend all tutor periods, assemblies and lessons to a minimum of 96% attendance
To be punctual to all tutor periods, assemblies and lessons
To meet expectations for Independent Study, evidenced through submission of homework and / or coursework
To meet subject deadlines – missed deadlines may result in a student being removed from the course.
To behave in a manner that is appropriate to the school environment
To adhere to the rules regarding the use of electronic equipment in school – phones only permitted during break & lunchtime
To adhere to the 6th Form dress code – refer to poster
To wear the 6th Form ID at all times
To respect and adhere to the rules of the Library and 6th Form areas
To represent Sedgehill Sixth Form well, in the local community

Mobile Phones

Students are not allowed to use mobile phones on the school site with the exception of the Sixth Form area in the A Block at break or lunchtime.

Identification

Lanyards must be work around the neck and visible at all times
Students must scan in and out every time they enter or leave the building.
If students forget their lanyard, they can be issued temporary card in exchange for their mobile phone, otherwise they will be sent home to get it.

Attendance & Punctuality

Expectation
- Students should aim for 100% attendance. This includes registration and assemblies
- Students who fail to maintain a good level of attendance (at least 96%) will be put on attendance report following a parental meeting. Continually poor attendance may also result in students having their place terminated.
- Students will be rewarded for good attendance
- Students must be on time for registration at 8:30am and for all lessons during the school day
- Persistent lateness will incur sanctions.
- Students who have study period 1 and 2 are expected to still be on time for registration (8.30am).
- All students must be present at 6^tH Form Assembly – every Monday
Absence
- Medical appointments should be booked outside of school hours. Where a medical appointment is unavoidable, a letter of request must be given to the Attendance Officer
- Holidays and driving lessons should be booked outside of school hours. If this should occur student will be given a unauthorised absence mark and be sanctioned with a 2hr detention.
- Paid employment can have a detrimental effect on your performance and ultimately your results. Our advice is that you should not undertake more than eight hours of paid employment per week. Students must not undertake paid employment during the school day. As part of our sixth form contract students can only work after 4.00pm. No students are allowed to leave school or lessons early due to employment.

Leaving the school site
- Students are not allowed to leave the school till 2:55pm. If students do not have lessons P5 they must work independently in the study area.
- Where students have a study period, they must register with Ms Ballabani in the 6^th Form office.
- Students who have circumstances to leave the site at any other time must request a pass from Ms Meeking or Mr Antiri.
