Y6-7 Transition 2024

Welcome to Sedgehill Academy

On behalf of all the staff and students at Sedgehill, we would like to extend a very warm welcome to all of our new year 7 students joining us in September 2024, and to all new parents and carers too. Our academy has been educating children from the local community for over 50 years and we are looking forward to meeting you all.

The transition from primary to secondary school can be a daunting prospect for young people, so we aim to make it as smooth and stress-free as possible. We have lots of exciting activities planned for the spring and summer to help our new students get to know their new school and each other.

Key Forthcoming Dates for new students joining in September 2024

Friday 1st March 2024 - offers of secondary school places sent out by Lewisham Council. Parents, carers and students who have been offered a place here will receive a welcome email from us shortly afterwards.

Tuesday 26^th March at 5.00 pm - Online Welcome Meeting

Please join Clare Cassidy for this online meeting where we will share some key information about the transition process. There will be the opportunity for you to ask any questions you may have via the online chat. Cameras will be switched off to protect your privacy. (Please note that this link will not go live until the meeting starts at 5 pm on the 26th.)

Tuesday 2^nd July 2024 - Lewisham Transition Day

A borough-wide day for all year 6 students to find out more about their new school. Sedgehill will welcome all year 6 students who are due to start in September on the confirmed date with Lewisham from 8 am-2.30 pm. Students should wear their current school uniform and bring a pencil case.

Wednesday 12^th June 2024 - New Families Transition Meeting (times to follow)

This an important meeting for parents, carers and new students to come in and meet with Academy staff.
